Modest Mouse have shared a new song called “Leave a Light On” off their next album The Golden Casket, which will be released on June 25th via Epic Records.
According to a press release, “Leave a Light On” sees frontman Isaac Brock grappling with the widening disconnect between people and the grave threat this poses to our humanity. The song has a woozy, nearly psychedelic quality to it, yet it’s held together by a massive indie rock sing-along hook.
“Leave a Light On” is The Golden Casket’s second release, following “We Are Between,” which was released earlier this month. Following 2015’s Strangers to Ourselves, The Golden Casket is Modest Mouse’s first album in six years. Dave Sardy and Jacknife Lee produced the new album, which was recorded in Los Angeles and at Modest Mouse’s Portland, Oregon, studio.
Modest Mouse confirmed a two-legged North American tour alongside the release of “Leave a Light On.” The first will begin with a performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 29th and conclude on August 29th at the Les Schwab Amphitheater in Bend, Oregon. A second leg will begin on Sept. 11 in Seattle and end on October 22nd in Asheville, North Carolina at Rabbit Rabbit.
Modest Mouse’s website will begin selling tickets for the tour on May 26th at 10 a.m. local time. Future Islands will also be joining the band for a few performances on the tour.
