On ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Lil Nas X Will Be Performing a New Song

During his musical guest spot on Saturday Night Live on May 22nd, Lil Nas X has revealed that he will perform his hit single “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” as well as a new song. The show will be hosted by Anya Taylor-Joy.

Season 46 of Saturday Night Live will come to end with the participation of the singer and rapper. Olivia Rodrigo will perform as the musical guest on the May 15th episode, which will be hosted by Keegan-Michael Key. The show’s May 8th lineup was previously announced, with Elon Musk as host and Miley Cyrus as musical guest.

During the April 3rd episode of Saturday Night Live, Chris Redd depicted Lil Nas X as a guest on a talk show hosted by Britney Spears (played by Chloe Fineman), mocking the controversy surrounding the release of Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and the song’s tie-in “Satan shoes.”

“Montero,” a song by Lil Nas X, was released in March. The song rose to the top of the Rolling Stone Top 100 Songs list, where it remained for a few weeks before being displaced by Polo G’s “Rapstar.”  Lil Nas X’s Christmas-themed video for “Holiday” was released in December 2020, and his debut EP 7, which included the breakout hit “Old Town Road” released in 2019 followed by “Montero.”
