In honour of Pride Month, DJ Minx of Detroit has released a new song titled “Purse First.”
The legendary house and techno DJ and Women on Wax founder officially came out about her own sexuality in an Instagram post at the start of this month and is now rounding up June with the release of a fresh new track. All proceeds will benefit the Ruth Ellis Center in Detroit, which provides support and trauma-informed services to LGBTQ+ youth and young adults of colour.
Several famous members of the electronic music world, including DJ Holographic, Midland, Honey Dijon, and The Blessed Madonna, reacted positively to Minx’s Instagram post. Shortly after posting the statement, Movement promoter Paxahau invited her to perform at the city’s first Pride party.
