A one-off documentary about women in hip-hop is slated to premiere on Channel 4.
Through the lens of ‘WAP,’ Megan Thee Stallion, and Cardi B’s 2020 breakthrough track, ‘Queens Of Rap’ will examine the evolution of women in the genre. Poppy Begum (aka Poppy Jay), an award-winning podcaster and investigative journalist, directed the documentary.
It has a predominantly female cast of contributors, including writers, journalists, music industry executives, and female rappers, like Roxanne Shanté, who rose to prominence in the 1980s hip-hop culture.
Nadia Rose, presenter Zeze Mills, author of ‘Miseducation: A Woman’s Guide To Hip-Hop’ Shanita Hubbard, and writer Julianne Escobedo Shephard are among the other contributors along with Roxanne Shanté.
On Thursday, November 25th, at 10 p.m. GMT, Channel 4 will broadcast the documentary.
Megan Thee Stallion will be featured in the soundtrack for ‘The Addams Family 2’ in the near future.
She won Best Rap Song at the Grammy Awards, which was postponed until 2021, in March.
