Red Hot Chili Peppers played “Black Summer” and “Can’t Stop” on the set of the 2022 MTV VMAs in Newark, New Jersey on August 28. Cheech & Chong introduced them on the stage, wearing tube socks on their genitalia. It was the first performance from the group at VMAs since 2000 when they received Video Vanguard Award and performed “Californication.”
Red Hot Chili Peppers won an award for “Black Summer” in the Best Rock category along with the Global Icon award for this year. In March, they released their first studio album “Unlimited Love” in six years. It includes the tracks “Not the One”, “Black Summer”, “These Are the Ways”, and “Poster Child.”
