Selena Gomez is betting big on a new Spanish single, “999,” after delivering her first Spanish-language EP Revelación in March, with which she became the first woman to debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums list since 2017. It’s a partnership with Colombian singer-songwriter Camilo this time.
“999,” a rhythmic pop track with a ballad at its core, produced by Edgar Barrera and written by Camilo, is the Mexican American artist’s first collaboration with the Colombian singer/songwriter. Over a sparse percussion, the two musicians trade rhymes about true love in the track, which comes with a music video directed by Sophie Muller.
“999” is the follow-up to Gomez’s seven-track Revelación, which was unveiled on March 12 by Interscope/IGA and had the best week for a Latin album by a woman since 2017. Myke Towers and Rauw Alejandro, two up-and-coming Latin artists, collaborated on the EP.
Camilo teamed up on a remix for Shawn Mendes’ ultra-tropical love anthem “Kesi.” Currently, he is on tour in Spain.
