Shawn Mendes has been up to something in the studio, rumored to be working on the follow-up to his Wonder album, which was released in 2020. He dropped a hint of his upcoming song to his fans on January 18, Tuesday.
The 23-year-old singer is seen in a car on FaceTime grooving out to a recording of a song he’s working on in a 12-second video posted to Instagram. The video then switches to Mendes in the studio, playing guitar to the same high-octane track.
While Mendes didn’t say what the song’s title is or if it will be published, he did test the waters by asking, “Y’all dig this?” in the caption.
The teaser video follows his heartfelt “It’ll Be Okay,” which was published in the aftermath of his separation from Camila Cabello.
Mendes’ studio album “Wonder” got to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in December 2020. In his 2022 tour, he’ll take Wonder all over the world, starting in Europe in the spring before traveling to the United States in the summer with Dermot Kennedy and Tate McRae.
