A historic heat wave is currently engulfing parts of the United States, making now the perfect time to release Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ previously unreleased song “105 Degrees.” Angel Dream, a revamped version of the 1996 She’s the One soundtrack, will be released in stores on Friday.
Petty’s first production after Wildflowers was the soundtrack for, She’s the One. And, because Wildflowers was supposed to be a double album, he had a lot of surplus tunes that he repurposed. When the album was re-released as a deluxe edition last year, several of those songs were re-absorbed by Wildflowers.
Angel Dream is a reworking of the She’s the One soundtrack that now contains “105 Degrees” with J.J. Cale’s “Thirteen Days,” the previously unheard Tom Petty originals “One of Life’s Little Mysteries” and “French Disconnection,” and an expanded version of “Supernatural Radio.”
The Petty estate has still yet to disclose its next archive project, although Mike Campbell has stated that he wants to revisit the group’s 1997 performance at the Fillmore West, where they were joined onstage by John Lee Hooker, Carl Perkins, and Bo Diddley.
