Tori Amos has unveiled the first track from her forthcoming album, “Ocean to Ocean,” titled “Speaking With Trees.” Decca will release the album on October 29th.
In the song, Amos turned to nature for optimism in the midst of adversity.
The record explores how people cope with suffering, as well as other contemporary issues. According to a statement, Amos penned Oceans to Oceans while on the road and living in Cornwall, Florida, when she went through a “personal crisis” triggered by the storming of the Capitol on January 6th.
Ocean to Ocean is Amos’ first solo album since Native Invader in 2017. Last year, she delivered “Christmastide,” a four-song holiday EP, and Resistance: A Songwriter’s Story of Hope, Change, and Courage, her second book, a memoir.
