New Long Leg, Dry Cleaning’s full-length debut, is one of the year’s most bracingly weird listening, the kind that makes you wonder where the heck it came from and when you’ll be able to hear more. With a new double-A-side single, “Bug Eggs”/”Tony Speaks!” released on Tuesday, the U.K. band has answered the second part of that question.
By Dry Cleaning’s standards, “Bug Eggs” is a loose, easygoing guitar improvisation, with lead vocalist Florence Shaw delivering a sarcastic monologue about the trade-offs of adulthood.
“Tony Speaks!” is a harder track with some classic Dry Cleaning deadpan observations on current life.
Both songs were recorded for New Long Leg over the summer of 2020, and they were included as bonus tracks on a Japanese edition of the album.
Dry Cleaning will perform in the United States for the first time since the pandemic forced them to postpone a 2020 tour. All of the previously announced dates have been sold out.
