A NEW CONCEPT, “HALO” IS LAUNCHED BY PATRICE BÄUMEL

Patrice Bäumel, a DJ and producer based in Lisbon, has created his new label idea, “HALO.”

The brand serves as a personal platform for him to produce music while also hosting a series of events featuring all-night-long sets from a variety of DJs.

The goal of HALO is to foster meaningful, real-world human interaction and to adopt a participation-based culture rather than a consumption-based one, as stated in the label’s guidebook, which notes that “mobile phone and camera use are discouraged.”

The artist’s guidebook, which is featured on HALO’s One Sheet, also mentions DJ set periods of at least four hours and no VIP area.

From the beginning, HALO’s objective is clear: to create significant real-world connections and treat everyone equally, to “deep dive artistically,” to participate with “no consumers, no passengers,” and to embrace love, unity, and high vibrations.

‘HALO 1’ is HALO’s first release, and it consists of two tracks.

The first of the two, ‘Zero Gravity,’ features Sylvain Chauveau, who initially drew Bäumel’s attention with his cover of Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers,’ and is a driving melodic techno tune that takes the listener on an eight-minute, enigmatic vocally driven journey. ‘Six,’ the EP’s second track, is a seven-minute cut that continues Bäumel’s driving melodic techno.

HALO gives Bäumel – and inevitably other artists – room to get creative with their music, with the notion of providing a novel perspective on a push for unity, togetherness, and involvement, having released on imprints such as Kompakt, Afterlife, and Anjunadeep.
