Black Coffee, a South African producer, earned his first GRAMMY Award during the 64th annual event over the weekend.
The event was the first the producer was nominated or chosen as a winner for this award, which was given in the dance/electronic album category for his record ‘Subconsciously,’ which was delivered in 2021.
Major Lazer’s ‘Music Is the Weapon (Reloaded)’, Illenium’s ‘Fallen Embers,’ and Sylvan Esso’s ‘Free Love’ competed against the 12-tracker.
Marshmello, who dropped his album ‘Shockwave’ last year, and Ten City, who were nominated for their EP ‘Judgement,’ were also in the same category.
The producer thanked David Guetta for believing in him as a “smaller artist” and trusting him and his taste for music. Moreover, he also brought his kid on stage to accept the prize.
RÜFÜS DU SOL won an award for their track ‘Alive,’ which was delivered last year, in the category of the best dance/electronic recording at the GRAMMYs.
Bonobo, Caribou, James Blake, Tiësto, David Guetta, and Afrojack were among the artists competing in the same category.
