Elvis Costello has released the La Face de Pendule à Coucou EP, which includes six Francophone remixes of three songs from his “Hey Clockface” album from 2020. The EP was unveiled digitally at 12 a.m. on Thursday, with a vinyl edition due out this summer from Concord Records. In addition to the EP, Costello has released a lyric video for “Hetty O’Hara Confidentiel.”
The “Confidentiel” version of Hey Clockface’s “Hetty O’Hara Confidential” includes Etta Somatis and AJUQ exchanging verses of the French lyric adaptation written by AJUQ and his mother Muriel Téodori, who is married to Steve Nieve (Attractions/Imposters keyboardist). The other is a remix by Tshegue, a Paris-based Afropunk duo.
Iggy Pop and Elvis Costello collaborated on two versions of “No Flag”: “No Flag (Chanté),” which was previously unveiled, and “No Flag (Parlé),” a spoken-word version that includes both Pop and Costello’s voices.
“Revolution #49” has two versions, the previously released spoken version with actress Isabelle Adjani and a sung “Revolution #49 (Chanté),” close to the “No Flag” approach. Adjani’s vocals are intertwined with Steve Nieve’s piano melody in the latter. Téodori wrote the lyrics for both versions in French.
