KANYE WEST RAISES ONE MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE FAMILY OF DMX

According to TMZ, Kanye West’s partnership with Balenciaga to remember the late rapper DMX has raised over $1 million for his family.

Kanye West’s fashion label, Yeezy, enlisted Balenciaga to design a shirt honouring the hip hop legend, real name Earl Simmons, with net proceeds going to his family. The $200 shirts were gone in less than 24 hours.

The shirt features a DMX graphic in the middle, with the words “R.I.P.” written above with a cross on each side, as well as his birth and death dates printed on the sleeves.

Simmons died on April 9th in a hospital after suffering a heart arrest, and his memorial was held last weekend at the Barclays Centre, with West assisting with stage design and his choir performing.

Due to the memorial’s “friends and family” policy, the service was broadcast live on YouTube for thousands of viewers.
