Lil Nas X and FKA Twigs reach an amicable agreement over the videos for “Montero” and “Cellophane”

The dispute between Lil Nas X and FKA Twigs over the similes between the Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” video and the FKA Twigs’s 2019 clip for “Cellophane” has been settled.

Fans quickly noticed the parallels after the launch of “Montero” last week, noticing not only the prominent use of pole dancing in both but also a scene in which both seem to fall from the sky. Lil Nas X worked with the same choreographer, named “Kelly Von,” who worked with FKA Twigs on “Cellophane,” as it turns out.”

Andrew Huang, the director of “Cellophane,” discussed the likeness in a Twitter thread on Sunday, March 28th. He described himself as a Lil Nas X fan and shared his admiration for the video and choreography, but he also mentioned how “sharing aesthetics and paying homage” can shift from a normal part of the creative process to something detrimental.
