In the teaser for the forthcoming documentary Mary J. Blige’s My Life, Mary J. Blige reflects on her iconic record “My Life.” The film, directed by Oscar winner Vanessa Roth, will be available on Amazon Prime Video on June 25th.
The singer talks about her early days in the new trailer, and how writing music was a way for her to escape her surroundings.
Blige talks about the making of My Life, which reached Rolling Stone’s “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time” list, in between videos of her performing and in the studio.
In celebration of the record’s 25th anniversary, Blige performs the album live for the first time in the film.
The documentary, which was executive produced by the singer and Sean Combs (who also appears in the teaser), also features Alicia Keys and Taraji P. Henson. Quincy Jones is the executive music producer on the project.
