The DMC World DJ Championships have been joined by DJ Michelle, a nine-year-old girl from the United Arab Emirates.
The DMC Championships in 2021 will be held in eight types of battle categories over the course of the year, with DJ Michelle facing off against ten other competitors in the first. Previously, Japan’s DJ Rena, who was 12 years old at the time, was the youngest contestant.
The 36th edition of the event, which features the world’s best scratch DJs who use portable turntables and vinyl, returns to the decks this year.
The championships, which have been held annually since 1985, are held in various locations around the world, with the inaugural event held in London and returning years later. Following in the footsteps of last year’s competition, which was moved online and made virtual, the 2021 edition will do the same.
This edition brings together competitors from all over the world, including Speedy Sloth from the United Kingdom, as well as contestants from Indonesia, the United States, Nepal, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Belgium.
With the help of Technics and Serato, leading artists will be given new titles and a boost in their careers. On May 5, finalists will be revealed, and those who proceed to the next round will be announced.
