If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, Halsey’s fourth album cinematic experience, is coming to television. HBO Max revealed on Wednesday, October 6 that they have purchased the film following its brief theatrical run in IMAX cinemas, which garnered over $1 million in box office ticket sales from over 70 locations worldwide. The cinematic experience If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power will be available on the streaming platform on Thursday, October 7.
The film, adapted to the songs of Halsey’s fourth album, stars the two-time Grammy nominee as pregnant Queen Lila, who discovers a magical capacity to both create and kill life following a terrible occurrence. The video, with its dramatic, horror-inspired graphics, tells the narrative of femininity, sexuality, and birth, as well as the musical experience of the album created by Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor. Halsey wrote If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, which was directed by Colin Tilley. The film was co-produced by the vocalist, Jamee Ranta, and Anthony Li.
Power also charted well on Billboard, in which it landed at No. 1 in the Alternative Albums category, a first for Halsey since the 2015 release of Badlands. The album was also Halsey’s third No. 2 on the all-format Billboard 200 list, while it debuted at No. 1 on Top Album Sales.
The artist is slated to make their fourth appearance as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live this week, on Oct. 9, when they will most likely play the songs from Power on the broadcast stage.
