The video for Ty Segall’s Song “Harmonizer” features Smashed synths, Smooshed cakes, and More

Ty Segall’s new video for “Harmonizer,” the title song from his most recent album, has been unveiled.

Segall’s signature scuzz-bomb guitar chords are paired with the basic but loud clatter of drum machine percussion in “Harmonizer.” The video for the song was directed by Segall and his wife/collaborator Denée Segall, and it depicts a series of increasingly strange vignettes, ranging from still-life shots of telephones, blenders, milk cartons, and rotting bananas to someone smashing a synthesizer and slowly stepping on a birthday cake.

Harmonizer was released as a surprise in August, and physical copies of the album will begin to arrive in October. The album contains the Freedom Band, which includes Ben Boye, Mikal Cronin, Emmett Kelly, and Charles Moothart, as well as Danée Segall, who co-wrote and performed on two songs. Cooper Crain and Segall collaborated on the album’s production.

Segall recently launched a short tour in support of Harmonizer, which mostly consists of shows in California and other west coast cities, plus a few festival dates. Segall also has North American dates scheduled for next February, and next June and July.
