Willow Smith’s New Song “Transparent Soul” Is Fully Pop-Punk

Willow Smith pays tribute to pop-punk with her new single “Transparent Soul,” featuring Travis Barker on the drums.

The song draws from the music of Paramore, Fall Out Boy, and Barker’s own band Blink-182, with hard-hitting percussion and pop-punk power chords on guitar. Smith sneers confidently in the lyrics as she points out the fakes and liars she’s known.

The video for “Transparent Soul” features Smith dressed in classic punk garb, complete with spiked collars.

According to Rolling Stone, Smith was influenced by a quote from Hindu guru Radhanath Swami.

The singer says she’s been drawn to rock music since she was a young, when she toured with her mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her heavy metal band Wicked Wisdom.
