In ‘Sun Goes Down’ Video, Lil Nas X Assists a Younger Version of Himself Who is Struggling

The video for Lil Nas X’s “Sun Goes Down” has been released. The song comes after the self-directed video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” which was released in March.

Lil Nas X appears in a white suit and enters a meditative state in the latest video. He goes back in time to when he worked at Taco Bell, spends time alone in his room, and attends a school dance, where he feels lonely and breaks down. To his former self, his new self offers comfort and motivation.

To Rolling Stone, he clarified his visual approach and idea for the film.

The artist will perform as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live this weekend, bringing SNL‘s Season 46 to a close. The performance will feature “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and a “new song,” which is likely to be “Sun Goes Down,” according to Lil Nas X. Lil Nas X will perform alongside Demi Lovato, Pink, and other artists at the Can’t Cancel Pride virtual concert on June 4th to support the LGBTQ+ community.
