Kelis’ new single “Midnight Snacks” now has a video. This is her first piece of solo work since she released her LP Food back in 2014.
The snappy, grooving retro mood harkens back to Kelis’ early work, while the Adrienne Raquel-directed visual juxtaposes it with futuristic aspects. Kelis spends time with her pals in a futuristic home that also includes an antique refrigerator. While she sings of desiring non-food midnight nibbles, the video contains decadent delicacies such as jello, waffles, ice cream, and doughnuts.
Kelis said of the song, ” Rhythm is great and the first word that sprang to him was ‘Midnight Snacks.'”
