According to Deadline, a long-awaited successor to This Is Spinal Tap is in the works. Rob Reiner will return to direct Spinal Tap II, with a projected launch date of March 19, 2024. Reiner will also make his return as Marty DiBergi, a fictional cinematographer. Harry Shearer, Michael McKean, and Christopher Guest will play their parts as Spinal Tap’s Derek Smalls, David St. Hubbins, and Nigel Tufnel.
Recently, Ric Parnell, who portrayed Mick and Ric Shrimpton in This Is Spinal Tap, passed” at the age of 70. Harry Shearer penned of his Spinal Tap bandmate, “No one ever rocked harder.”
